Sadism
Sitter in law (SIL) yells at my nephew for getting a note from school telling her that he was "bad" at school today. My neice (N) smiles.
SIL: Why are you smiling?
N: I wasn't smiling about that!
SIL: What were you smiling about then?
N: I don't know!
SIL: You like seeing your brother in trouble? Thats messed up! That just sadistic!
N: Whats sadistic?
SIL: Wheres your dictionary?!? Look it up!
N: How do you spell it? I can't find it!
SIL: Spell it out!
N: I still can't find it!
SIL: Let me see! Its under sadism! It means to get pleasure or joy as a result of inflicting pain or watching pain inflicted on others. You don't want to be that kind of person!
N: (while crying) I'm not mean!
SIL: Go to your room!
